About Martha

(Martha’s Calendar)

Martha Randall is a passionate teacher who loves to share in the creative possibilities that movement provides for expression, discovery and self-healing. Martha’s 35 years of experience as a movement artist and teacher ensure that the classes and training sessions she leads are thoughtful, energetic and playful.

Throughout her movement career, starting with her formal dance training at York University, Martha has studied and performed an eclectic range of dance forms, including modern, ballet, contact improvisation and Gabrielle Roth’s 5 Sacred Rhythms. She has also studied Tai Chi, karate, yoga, and clowning (with Mump & Smoot’s John Turner).

As a performing artist Martha presented a solo, choreographed by Sylvie Bouchard and entitled, “And Everything In Between”, as part of the Older & Reckless series in 2009. She has performed with Moonhorse Dance Theatre: 2003’s By Night and 2005’s This Castle . To stimulate her creativity she participates in Bhutto workshops led by Denise Fujiwara. Martha’s teaching venues have included: SoulPepper Theatre’s Youth Outreach program, Second City’s educational division, the Toronto Board of Education’s Conference for Music and Drama teachers and the Haliburton School of the Arts Expressive Arts Programme. She has also volunteered Nia classes at Gilda’s Club – a support service for women with cancer.
